Products Features

Excellent Oxidation Resistance and Wet Phosphoric Acid Corrosion Capability (Upgraded from G-30)
The high chromium content (approximately 33%) enables outstanding performance in oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid, sulfuric acid containing Fe³⁺/Cu²⁺) and oxidizing-reducing mixed acids. Particularly in wet phosphoric acid (containing sulfuric acid, fluoride, and chloride impurities), its corrosion resistance far exceeds that of G-30, 625 alloy, and even C-276. In practical service condition tests, G-35 exhibits far superior corrosion resistance to other metal materials in this medium.

Excellent resistance to localized corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
As an upgraded product of G-30, G-35 offers better resistance to localized corrosion and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing media. In the ASTM G-36 45% boiling magnesium chloride stress corrosion cracking test, G-30 cracked after 168 hours, while G-35 remained crack-free after 1008 hours, demonstrating significant performance advantages.

Good welding and machinability performance.
The ultra-low carbon design effectively reduces the precipitation of intergranular carbides during welding or sensitization treatment. Compared to high-molybdenum alloys such as C-276, G-35 has a lower tendency to precipitate harmful phases after long-term use at high temperatures, is less prone to intergranular corrosion in the weld heat-affected zone, and generally does not require special post-weld heat treatment. It can be cold and hot formed using conventional processes, exhibits excellent welding properties (suitable for GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, etc.), and is convenient for manufacturing complex equipment.

High-temperature performance
It exhibits excellent oxidation resistance in high-temperature oxidizing atmospheres. With a chromium content as high as approximately 33%, G-35 can rapidly form a dense Cr₂O₃ passivation film in strongly oxidizing media, maintaining good oxidation stability even above 500°C. This alloy is primarily designed for medium-to-low temperature corrosive environments (long-term use up to ≤ 400°C), but compared to G-30 and C-276, G-35 has a lower tendency to precipitate harmful phases after long-term high-temperature use.
Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PREN): PREN = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo ≈ 33 + 3.3×8 ≈ 59, which is significantly higher than G-30 (approximately 41-51) and 316L (approximately 25). The combination of high chromium and molybdenum endows it with exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly outstanding comprehensive stability in acidic environments containing chloride and fluoride ions.
Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT): It demonstrates excellent resistance to localized corrosion in phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and mixed acids containing chloride ions. The CPT value is superior to that of G-30 and most super austenitic stainless steels.
Applicable Media:
1. Wet Phosphoric Acid (containing sulfuric acid, fluoride, and chloride impurities) - G-35's most classic application area
2. Nitric Acid and Its Mixtures (nitric acid/hydrochloric acid, nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid) - G-35 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to strongly oxidizing environments containing nitric acid
3. Sulfuric Acid (moderate concentration, especially when containing oxidants)
4. Acidic Solutions Containing Halides
5. Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing Media
6. Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Slurries
7. Hot Sodium Hydroxide Solutions - G-35 effectively resists caustic dealloying corrosion
Upgraded version of G-30, Hastelloy G-35 is designed for strongly oxidizing and mixed acid corrosion environments and is recommended for the following fields:
Application Fields
-
Fertilizer Industry (Wet Phosphoric Acid): Evaporator tubes, heat exchangers, reactor linings, and piping systems (the classic application area for G-35, which can resist corrosive phosphoric acid containing fluorides and chlorides.
