Products Features

Excellent Resistance to Seawater Corrosion
It exhibits extremely low corrosion rates in both flowing and stagnant seawater and is insensitive to marine biological fouling, making it an ideal material for seawater cooling systems, ship components, and desalination equipment.

Superior Resistance to Hydrofluoric Acid Corrosion
Monel 400 is one of the few alloys that can withstand corrosion by hydrofluoric acid. It is suitable for equipment involved in the production, storage, and transportation of hydrofluoric acid, such as alkylation units, valves, and piping systems.

Good Resistance to Corrosion by Reducing Acids and Alkaline Solutions
It shows good corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acids (e.g., dilute sulfuric acid, dilute hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid) and alkaline solutions (e.g., sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide), making it applicable to chemical reactors, evaporators, and storage tanks.

Good Workability and Weldability
It can be cold or hot formed using conventional processes, with a recommended hot working temperature range of 870-1040°C. It has good welding properties (compatible with GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, etc.) and does not require post-weld heat treatment, making it suitable for manufacturing complex chemical equipment.

High-temperature performance
Monel 400 exhibits good oxidation resistance below 400°C, forming a stable oxide film on its surface. Prolonged use at higher temperatures leads to strength degradation and accelerated oxidation; it is recommended for use below 500°C.
High-Temperature Mechanical Properties:
At 400°C, the tensile strength remains above approximately 400 MPa, but yield strength gradually decreases with increasing temperature.
Suitable Media:
1. Seawater, saltwater, brines
2. Hydrofluoric acid (all concentrations, ambient to moderate temperatures)
3. Dilute sulfuric acid, dilute hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid (non-oxidizing conditions)
4. Alkaline solutions (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, milk of lime)
5. Organic acids (formic acid, acetic acid, lactic acid)
6. Chloride solutions, acidic chloride media
Note: Monel 400 is not resistant to oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid), wet chlorine gas, or media containing oxidizing ions, as these environments can cause rapid corrosion failure.
Monel 400 is specifically designed for corrosive environments such as seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline solutions, and is recommended for use in the following areas:
