Extremely High Permeability and Extremely Low Coercivity
The core advantage of Permalloy 80 lies in the inherent magnetic properties of its nickel-iron matrix. The high nickel content (approximately 80%) significantly enhances the alloy's initial permeability and maximum permeability, enabling it to magnetize and demagnetize rapidly under very weak magnetic fields with extremely low hysteresis loss. Typical coercivity is as low as <4 A/m, and initial permeability can exceed 20,000, making it an ideal material for weak magnetic field signal processing and high-sensitivity sensor applications, and an excellent choice for achieving magnetic shielding and high-sensitivity magnetic devices.

Excellent Magnetic Shielding Performance
Permalloy 80, with its extremely high permeability and low hysteresis loss, effectively guides and closes external magnetic fields through itself, thereby protecting sensitive electronic components from stray magnetic field interference. In direct current and low-frequency alternating current magnetic fields, its shielding effectiveness far surpasses that of ordinary silicon steel, ferrite materials, and Permalloy 45/50. It is suitable for cutting-edge fields requiring precise control and shielding of extremely weak magnetic fields, such as precision instruments, medical equipment, and communication systems.

Good Temperature Stability
Permalloy 80 exhibits good magnetic performance stability over a wide temperature range of -50°C to 200°C, with much lower variation rates in permeability and operating points compared to ordinary soft magnetic materials. Its Curie temperature is approximately 460°C, allowing it to maintain consistent magnetic characteristics over a broad temperature range. This makes it suitable for applications with strict temperature stability requirements, such as automotive electronics, industrial control, and aerospace.

Good Machining and Formability
Permalloy 80 has good hot and cold working properties, allowing it to be forged, rolled, and stamped into shape. Its ductility is superior to most brittle soft magnetic ferrites, making it suitable for manufacturing complex magnetic shields, laminated cores, and precision stamped parts. Annealing can optimize magnetic properties, eliminate processing stresses, restore permeability, and reduce coercivity. Conventional mechanical machining (turning, milling, drilling, grinding) is applicable; hard metal cutting tools are recommended.

Antioxidant Performance:
Permalloy 80 exhibits good antioxidant properties within normal operating temperature ranges. For long-term exposure at high temperatures (>400°C), surface coating protection is recommended.
Organizational Stability:
By optimizing heat treatment, the grain structure of Permalloy 80 can be precisely controlled to ensure consistency in magnetic and mechanical properties. Annealing temperature and time directly affect the final magnetic properties and must be strictly controlled.
Applicable Media:
1. Conventional atmospheric environment
2. Electrical insulation media
3. Aviation kerosene, hydraulic oil
4. High-temperature gas environment (≤ 200°C)
Note: Permalloy 80 is a metallic soft magnetic alloy and is not suitable for corrosive liquid environments such as strong acids and strong alkalis. When exposed to humid environments for a long time, rust prevention treatment is recommended.
Permalloy 80 is designed for magnetic applications requiring extremely high permeability, very low losses, and high reliability. It is recommended for use in the following areas:
