High Permeability and Low Coercivity
The core advantage of Permalloy 50 lies in the inherent magnetic properties of its nickel-iron matrix. The optimized nickel content significantly enhances the alloy's initial permeability and maximum permeability, enabling rapid magnetization and demagnetization under weak magnetic fields with extremely low hysteresis loss. Typical coercivity is as low as < 16 A/m, and initial permeability can reach > 12,000. It performs exceptionally well in applications involving weak signal processing and high-sensitivity sensors, making it an ideal material for achieving magnetic shielding and high-sensitivity magnetic devices.

Excellent Magnetic Shielding Performance
Permalloy 50 has high permeability and low hysteresis loss, which effectively guides and closes external magnetic fields through itself, thereby protecting sensitive electronic components from interference by stray magnetic fields. In direct current and low-frequency alternating current magnetic fields, its shielding effect is far superior to that of ordinary silicon steel and ferrite materials. It is suitable for cutting-edge fields such as precision instruments, medical equipment, and communication systems that require precise control and shielding of weak magnetic fields.

Good Temperature Stability
Permalloy 50 exhibits excellent magnetic performance stability over a wide temperature range of -50°C to 200°C, with much lower variation rates in permeability and operating point compared to conventional soft magnetic materials. Its Curie temperature is approximately 480°C, allowing it to maintain consistent magnetic characteristics across a broad temperature range. This makes it suitable for applications with strict temperature stability requirements, such as automotive electronics, industrial control, and aerospace.

Excellent Machining and Forming Properties
Permalloy 50 exhibits good hot and cold working properties, allowing it to be forged, rolled, and stamped into shape. Its ductility is superior to that of most brittle soft ferrite magnetic materials, making it suitable for manufacturing complex magnetic shields, laminated cores, and precision stamped parts. Annealing can optimize magnetic properties, eliminate processing stresses, restore permeability, and reduce coercivity. Conventional machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and grinding are applicable, with carbide tools recommended.

Antioxidant Performance:
Permalloy 50 exhibits good antioxidant properties within normal operating temperature ranges. For long-term exposure at high temperatures (>400°C), surface coating protection is recommended.
Organizational Stability:
By optimizing heat treatment, the grain structure of Permalloy 50 can be precisely controlled to ensure consistency in magnetic and mechanical properties. Annealing temperature and time directly affect the final magnetic properties and must be strictly controlled.
Applicable Media:
1. Conventional atmospheric environment
2. Electrical insulation media
3. Aviation kerosene, hydraulic oil
4. High-temperature gas environment (≤ 200°C)
Note: Permalloy 50 is a metallic soft magnetic alloy and is not suitable for corrosive liquid environments such as strong acids and strong alkalis. When exposed to a humid environment for a long time, rust prevention treatment is recommended.
Permalloy 50 is designed for magnetic applications requiring high permeability, low loss, and high reliability. It is recommended for use in the following areas:
