Incoloy 925

Incoloy 925

INCOLOY 925 is a nickel-iron-chromium-based precipitation-hardening alloy strengthened by the precipitation of γ'' and γ' phases through the addition of molybdenum, copper, aluminum, and titanium. It exhibits extremely high tensile strength and excellent resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSC). This alloy is specifically designed for extreme acidic oil and gas environments containing H₂S, CO₂, and chlorides, and is widely used in downhole tools, tubing hangers, pump shafts, valves, couplings, and marine engineering applications.

Products Features

High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance

Excellent resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking

In acidic oil and gas well environments containing H₂S, INCOLOY 925 exhibits excellent resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSC) and hydrogen embrittlement, meeting the requirements of NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for the highest grade alloy intended for use in acidic environments.

High-Temperature Corrosion Resistance

Ultra-high strength and good toughness

Through precipitation hardening heat treatment, INCOLOY 925 can achieve a yield strength of up to 965 MPa or higher, while maintaining excellent ductility, toughness, and impact resistance, making it suitable for high-load underground tools and wellhead components.

High Stability

Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion

Chromium and molybdenum content endows the alloy with excellent pitting resistance equivalent (PREN ≈ 38) in chloride-containing environments, making it suitable for harsh corrosive conditions such as seawater, acidic brines, and oilfield produced water.

Good Processability

Machining and welding properties

It can be subjected to hot working, cold working, and welding using conventional processes. It is suitable for manufacturing complex-shaped downhole tools, valve components, and pipeline systems.

High-temperature performance

High-temperature Strength Retention:

Below 450°C, the alloy still maintains good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Long-term operating temperature range: Recommended -200°C to 450°C.

Resistance to Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking (SSC): Meets the highest level requirements of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 for acidic oil and gas field environments, exhibiting no SSC sensitivity under conditions of pH 3.0-4.5 and H₂S partial pressures up to 10 bar.

Pitting Corrosion Resistance: PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N ≈ 38, which exhibits excellent pitting corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments.

Applicable corrosive media:

Acidic oil and gas well media containing H₂S/CO₂

Chloride solutions (seawater, brine)

Reducing acids (dilute sulfuric acid)

Alkaline solutions

Organic acids
