Products Features

Exceptional Resistance to Pitting and Crevice Corrosion
The synergistic effect of high molybdenum (15-17%), chromium (14.5-16.5%), and tungsten (3-4.5%) provides far superior local corrosion resistance compared to 316L, 317L, and even most super austenitic stainless steels (e.g., 6Mo) in strongly corrosive media containing chlorides, halogens, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, etc.

Excellent Resistance to Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking
Its high nickel content (remainder, approximately 57%) renders it nearly immune to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. It performs extremely stably in marine environments, saltwater cooling, evaporators, and chemical processes, significantly outperforming 304, 316, and duplex stainless steels.

Superior Corrosion Resistance to Reducing and Oxidizing Acids
It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in media such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, and hydrofluoric acid. Additionally, it shows good performance against oxidizing acids (e.g., nitric acid, acid solutions containing Fe³⁺/Cu²⁺), making it suitable for various harsh reactors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.

Good Fabrication and Weldability
It can be formed by conventional hot and cold working methods. It has excellent weldability, compatible with welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW. Post-weld heat treatment is not required (but interpass temperature should be controlled), facilitating the manufacture of complex equipment.

High-temperature performance
It exhibits good oxidation resistance in oxidizing atmospheres below 1000°C. However, this alloy is primarily designed for medium- and low-temperature corrosive environments (long-term use ≤ 450°C). Phase stability should be considered above this temperature.
Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PREN): PREN = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N (C-276 has extremely low nitrogen content and is typically not counted). Calculated with Cr at 15.5% and Mo at 16%, PREN ≈ 68, which is significantly higher than 316L (≈25) and 904L (≈35).
Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT): In a 10% FeCl₃·6H₂O solution, CPT ≥ 85°C, outperforming 254SMO and most super austenitic stainless steels.
Suitable Media:
1. Chloride-containing seawater, brine, and brine
2. Sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, hydrofluoric acid
3. Wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) slurry
4. Oxidizing-reducing mixed acids (e.g., sulfuric acid containing Fe³⁺)
5. Paper pulp bleaching solutions (containing chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and chlorates)
6. High-temperature and high-pressure water (nuclear power plants, chemical processes)
